BioDiesel was made using 15 gallons of pure hempseed oil supplied by Vote Hemp.
The demonstration, performed by Ian Watson using his Old Rad Lab biodiesel processor, went flawlessly as hundreds of onlookers marveled that we could make fuel using hempseed oil just that easily. Ian proves the point by driving two late model VW TDI (Turbo Diesel Injected) automobiles exclusively on fuel he makes himself.
Despite administrative difficulties, two Hemp US Flags, one Betsy and one Regulation, were flying.
Assemblymember Virginia Strom-Martin publicly re-affirmed her commitment to Industrial Hemp issues and her support of biodiesel and biofuels to address a number of critical issues. "I am extremely proud to be a part of today's demonstration," said Strom-Martin, "We can no longer afford to ignore the many benefits of industrial hemp, because it can provide solutions to many of our state’s agricultural, environmental, manufacturing and energy production problems."
Many legislators were visited directly by coalition members supporting Strom-Martin's AB 388. Special attention was paid to those legislators known to oppose AB388.
Hemp Car, which is running on pure hempseed oil biodiesel, made a three hour appearance and parked within 25 feet of the front doors of the the Capitol.
Vote Hemp pamphlets, Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap samples, HempNut recipe books, Fuel and Fiber Company Bio-Fuels literature, Hemp Industries Association brochures, and Hemptech books were distributed. Also Mountain Lynx hemp store displayed a range of products. A giant hemp stalk was displayed as evidence of hemp's potential as a fast growing source of biomass.
The Vote Hemp banner and the Fuel and Fiber Company banner were displayed prominently and could be seen by all approaching the Capitol.
LB Johnson, Videographer, was on site the entire time and taped it all, including appearances by Chris Conrad, Candi Penn, Jason Pitkin, Tim Castleman, Charles Meyer, and of course the entire Virginia Strom-Martin talk. More images will be posted soon.
A C.A.I.R. meeting of coalition activists was moderated by Sam Clauder from 3-5PM.
HEMP IN THE HEARTLAND hosted a reception for Hemp Car from 5 pm until their departure for the Bay Area as they continued their Transamerica tour.
A post found on the net discusses the end of the trip and final disposition of the flag we sent is here.
